| The Bridge of Sighs was built to connect the Ducal Palace with the dungeons. The 18th century writer and libertine Casanova, a native of Venice, was imprisoned here in 1755 acused of being a Freemason; he escaped 15 month later and fled to France, where he continued his career of interique and scandal. |
