The Bridge of Sighs
Venice - The Bridge of Sighs
The Bridge of Sighs, was commissioned by Doge Marino Grimano and built by Antonio Contini at the turn of the 17th century in Baroque style. The name "Bridge of Sighs" presumably derives from the sighs of the prisoners who had to cross it as they were being brought before the Inquisitors.
