Postcards from Venice
The Ducal Palace Courtyard
Venice - The Doges Palace Courtyard
To enter the courtyard one has to cross the Foscari Portico. In the middle of the courtyard is a pair of imposing bronze well curbs, one designed by Niccolo dei Conti in 1556 and the other by Alfonso Alberghetti dated 1559. The facade on the eastern side was designed by Antonio Rizzo at the end of 15th century. By the Staircase of the Giants is the Froscari Arch, begun by Bons in Gothic style, and finished by Rizzo and Bregnos in Renaissance style.
