| Bistrita Monastery, one of Romania's most impressive monasteries, is 6 km north of Costesti. The Monastery was founded by boyars from Craiova sometime before 1496, but suffered at the hands of Mihnea the Bad (1508-1509), who attacked it when the Craiovesti became too arrogant. On their return from refuge in Transylvania the boyars rebuilt the church. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
