| Hurez Monastery lies a couple of miles northeast of the town of Horezu. The town got its name from numerous owls (Romanian "huhurezi"). Set amoung apple, plum orchards, sweet chestnut trees and wild lilac, on the main road to Ramnicu Valcea. Horezu, also named Horezi, is best known for its pottery, especially plates.The "Cocosul de Horezu" , pottery fair, held in June, is one of the year's biggest events in the area. | |||||||||||||||||||||
