| The beautiful church was built in the 12th century on the ruins of an existing temple. Rebuilt and enlarged in the 12th and 14th century, its very severe facade is surmounted by a huge Byzantine style mosaic representing the Ascension of Christ. The church contains works by Jacobo della Quercia and the sarcophagus restraining the intact body of Saint Zita, the town's Patron Saint. |
