Postcards from Tuscany
Isola del Giglio - Baia Compese
Tuscany - Baia Campese
Isola del Giglio is the second largest isle in the Tuscan Archipelago, has been lived on ever since the Etruscan and Romans ruled in the Argentario. It has a very rich Mediterranean vegetation and its temperate climate make it the favorite destination of many tourists. A residential tourism is developing mainly around the charming port dominated by the imposing Torre del Lazzaretto, as well as the vast sandy shore of Baia Campese. On the small island near the shore rises the Torre del Compese erected by Ferdinando I of Borbone as defense from the Tunisian pirates.
