| Siena's Duomo (1150-1376) is beyond question one of the greatest cathedrals in Italy, a spectacular mixture of sculpture, paintings, and Pisan influenced Romanesque-Gothic architecture. The lower part of the pink and green marble facade was built by Giovanni Pisano and the upper part was completed by Giovanni di Cecco. The interior contains many work of art, among which are the masterpieces of Nicola Pisano, Michelangelo, Bernini, Donatello, Pinturiccio, Ghiberti. |
