| San Gimignano - Porta San Giovanni |
| The Porta San Giovanni (Saint John's Door) or the Sienese Door, is the most imposing one of the 13th century town walls. The side bell-tower belonged to a small baroque church, called Chiesa della Madonna dei Lumi (the Church of the Madonna of Candles), the central part of which was above Porta San Giovanni before being demolished at the beginning of this century. The Doors opens into Via San Giovanni, sided by medieval buildings and shops of local artisanal and farming products. |
