Tuscany (Pisa) - Santo Stefano dei Cavalieri Church
The Piazza dei Cavalieri, which holds the Renaissance Palazzo dei Cavalieri, Palazzo dell' Orologio, and Santo Stefano dei Cavalieri, was laid out by Giorgio Vasari in 1560-61. The square was the seat of the Ordine dei Cavalieri di San Stefano (Order of the Knights of St. Stephen) created by Cosimo I. Also in this square is Pisa's most prestigious colleges Scuoala Normale Superioare, founded by Napoleon in 1810 on the French model. In front of the school is a statue of Ferdinando de' Medici dating from 1596.
