Tuscany - Pisa (The National Museum of San Matteo)
The National Museum of San Matteo is located on the banks of the Arno, an elegantly fronted medieval Benedictine Monastery that also served as a prison in the 19th century.  It is one of the most important museums in Italy for its collection of wooden sculptures and art work of the Maestros from the 12th-13th century Pisan School such as Nicola, Giovanni, Andrea and Nino Pisano, and Bonanno. The museum houses a stunning relinquary by Donatello (c.1386)
