| Around the citadel walls are the ruins of towers and bastions which the guilds erected during the 15th century to protect the town from Turks. Each of the 14 towers were built by one of the guilds, and nine of them survive, the most impressive being the Shoemakers' Tower, the Tailors' Tower and the Tinsmiths' Tower. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
