| A 13th century passageway leads down through the 18th century Staircase Tower (Fingerlingsstiege) at Piata Mica 24 via Piata Aurarilor to Strada Movilei, a street marked with medieval windows, doorways and turrets. Down in the rambling lower town northwest of the square is the octagonal-based Tanners' Tower (Turnul Pielarilor) on Str. Pulberariei. The tower suffered more than its fair share of misfortunes, having been blown up twice before it was burnt down in 1638. |
