Sibiu - Photo by Ovidiu Sopa
Parallel with Str. Nicolae Balcescu is Citadel Street (Str. Cetatii), which contains a vast array of fortifications: three towers, a roundel, a bastion and a long brick rampart that borders B-dul Spitalelor (Hospitals Boulevard). The roundel is the Tick Tower, built in the 16th century and converted into Sibiu's first professional theatre in 1788. The other towers are the Linen makers' Tower, the Potters' Tower and the Barbers' Tower.
