Sibiu (The historic centre) - Photo by Ovidiu Sopa
At Piata Mica 21, stands the Artists' House, an exhibition hall, which host various temporary exhibitions. It is the square's earliest building, originally a market hall constructed from river stones in 1370. Its steep gable ends were copied from Franconian homesteads introduced to Sibiu by German immigrants. The arcaded House of Arts was known as the Butcher's House before becoming a town hall and later a theatre. Beautifully restored in the 1970's was transformed into an exhibition hall.
