| Piata Mica became Sibiu's principal market place and remained its commercial centre even after Piata Mare was built. Many of the arcaded houses that surrounded it were once shops with open air premises. They were owned by craftsman such as cobblers, furriers and goldsmiths, who formed some of Sibiu's most powerful guilds. |
