Sibiu - Photo by Ovidiu Sopa
The best place to begin exploring Sibiu is at the top of the former Council Tower (Turnul Sfatului), dating from 1588, which links Piata Mare with Piata Mica. Built on the site of a 13th century gatetower, as a defense tower and later used as a cereal storehouse, it now houses the History Museum. The view from the top of the Fagaras Mountains is breathtaking.
