Postcards from Rome
Piazza Navona
Rome - Piazza Navona
The area around Piazza Navona, known as the centro storico, has been inhabited for at least 2,000 years. Throughout the Renaissance and Baroque eras, princes, popes and cardinals settled here, as did the artists they commissioned to build lavish palaces, churches and fountains. Even today the plazza remains the social center of the city with its luxurious cafes close by the three flamboyant Baroque fountains.
