Postcards from Parma
Salsomaggiore - The Berzieri Baths
Located at the feet of the Parmesan Apennine, the town of Salsomaggiore was known from Roman times for its salty waters emerging from the ground. The property of the territory passed from the Pallavicino family to the Farnese family, then to the Bourbons and finally to Marie Louise. Doctor Lorenzo Berzieri discovered the curative properties of the waters that transformed the area to a thermal bath resort. The Art Deco style Berzieri baths were inaugurated in 1923.
