Postcards from Parma
La Cittadella
Cittadella was a fortress with a large channel dug in the ground surrounding the powerful bastions. The fortress in Antwerp inspired it, because Alessandro Farnese, who had it built by architects Genesio Bresciani and Smeraldo Smeraldi, was then the governor of the Flanders on behalf of Philip II of Spain.
