| The Cathedral - The dome by Correggio |

| The dome it's one of Antonio da Correggio's masterpieces. He erected it between 1526 and 1530 during the work commissioned by the Councilmen of the Cathedral. Correggio had the eight large circular windows in the tambour opened in order to give more light to the dome. The subject of the fresco is the "Assumption of the Virgin into Heaven" and fills the entire cupola. |
