Postcards from Parma
The Cathedral
The Cathedral of Parma has been built nearly the ancient road Romea which led the pilgrims to Rome. Its construction began during the 920-923 under the Episcopal Accardo. It was consacrated in 1106 and dedicated to St. Mary of the Assumption. Like the Baptistery, the Cathedral was designed by the brilliant architect and sculptor Benedetto Antelami.
