| Probota is mentioned as having a church in 1391. Stephen the Great built the core of the existing church as a burial place for his mother, Doamna Oltea, and his first wife Princess Evdochia of Kiev. Between 1527-1530, Metropolitan Rosca carried out Petru Rares's instructions for building the existing monastery church. |
