Neamt Monastery (1497)
Neamt Monastery was originally a simple skete founded by Petru I Musat. Alexandru cel Bun rebuilt it in the 15th century and established a printing workshop and library. Stephen the Great enlarged the church in commemoration of his defeat of Poland in 1497. The size and grandeur of Neamt Monastery set the standard for 16th century monasteries across Moldavia. The monastery church is dedicated to the Ascension, honored with a special service 40 days after Orthodox Easter.
