The Tower Of London
The Tower of London
The Tower of London is a compound of structures built throughout the ages as expressions of royal power. The oldest is the White Tower, began by William the Conqueror in 1078. Until the reign of James I (1603), the tower was one of the royal residences and a prison for distinquished captives. In the Bloody Tower, Richard III's henchmen murdered the two little princes. The Tower Green was the place where Thomas Man and Lady Jane Grey lost their lives.
