Postcards from London
Windsor Castle
Windsor Castle, with its 1,000 rooms, is the world's largest inhabited castle. William the Conqueror, after his conquest of Britain in 1066, order the Windsor Castle to be built. Edward III in 1300 built the great round tower, the Norman gateway and the State Apartments; Charles II restored the apartments in 1600 and George IV in 1820 converted the medieval castle into the palace as we see today.
