| In the 14th century, Tismana was the seat of the Metropolitan of Wallachia. The former monastery is now a working convent, around the courtyard stands a block of sturdy fortress walls, comprising of nuns' cells, a refectory, painting studios and a museum of cult objects. Monks from Tismana were trained as craftsmen and artists on Mount Athos, some of their work is display here. | |||||||||||||||||||||
