| Right up into the 1970s two skyscrapers dominated the view from the Rhine, symbolising the dominance of the steel industry, which had rapidly developed after the war. The Mannesmann skyscraper, the skyscraper of the headquarters of Thyssen AG were joined by the television tower, the municipal saving bank and the state pensions administration skyscrapers. |
