| Set in a large park, Peles Castle has become one of Romania's most popular destination. Built as a summer residence for King Carol I and Queen Elisabeta, by Viennese architect Wilhelm Doderer, Peles Castle contains 106 rooms, richly decorated in mother of pearl, walnut, ebony and leather. It was the first castle in Europe to have central heating and electricity. | |||||||||||||||||||||
