| Ten km southwest of Brasov, the Saxon village of Cristian has a fine Gothic church that was rebuilt in the 19th century. Codlea has a fortified church built in 1432, after the first Turkish invasion in the Burzen Land (Tara Barsei). By the 15th century the Codlea's guilds were competing with Brasov for the position of regional capital. Each of the five guilds added a tower to the curtain wall around the church. |
