When the treat of Turkish expansion became evident in the 15th century, the inhabitants of Brasov began to fortify the town, assigning the defense of each bastion to a particular guild. Of the original seven bastions, the best preserved is the Weavers' Bastion or Weberbastei (Bastionul Tesatorilor) at Str George Cosbuc 9. A small history museum contains a model of the medieval citadel and charts the history of Brasov's guilds. The Catholic Cathedral it is the masterpiece work of Iosif Carol Lamasch, built in pure Baroque style. |
