Postcards from Bologna
Bologna - Castiglione's Torresotto
Bologna, Italy - Casiglione's Torresotto
The origin of the street's name Via Castiglione came from castillio or "castel leone", relating it to the mountain keep of Castiglione ruled by the Peopoli family from 1340 to 1796. The Torresotto, dated from 12th-13th century was one of the ancient gates opening on the medieval walls encircling the town and known as the "Walls of the year one-thousand". Next to the Torresotto stands Casa Della Lana which in 15th century belonged to the Wool Trade.
