Bologna - Accursio Palace
Bologna - Accursio Palace and Neptune fountain
The imposing Municipal Palace, commonly known as Accursius' Palace because the houses of the Accursi, which were bought by the municipality in 1287, stood originally on its place. The porched part, built in Gothic style dates back to 1287 while the older tower took its final shape in 1444. The clock on the tower was made by Rinaldo Gandolfi in 1773 to replace the old wooden one. The facade looking out on Neptune's square, by Francesco Morandi also called Terribilia, dates from 1583.
