Bologna, Italy - Piazza Maggiore (Maggiore Square)
Bologna with its rich and fertile soil has been since the 9th century B.C. the area of settlement for peoples engaged in agriculture, animal breeding and bronze casting. In the second half of the 6th century B.C. the town of Felsina was founded by the Etruscans. In the 4th century B.C. the town was run over by the Gallic tribes of the Boi. The new name of Bononia given to the town, was kept by the Romans after their conquest in 191 B.C.
