Bologna - Villa Aldini
Bologna - Villa Aldini
The Neoclassical Villa Aldini was built by Giuseppe Nadi and Giovan Battista Mortinetti at the top of the Osservanza hill for Antonio Aldini, minister of Napoleon Bonaparte. The older shrine of the Madonna of the Hill (12th century) was included in the villa's plan, and its Romanesque round terrace became a dining or music room. The villa's front, in Ionian style, bears a stucco relief by Giacomo De Maria. The frescoes dating from the 12th century are found in the Romanesque Rotunda.
