| Porta Maggiore (Maggiore Gate) |

| The 13th century Porta Maggiore at the end of the Maggiore street acts as a sort of backdrop to the whole street. This gate was saved from a complete destruction by Alfonso Rubbiani, after the elimination in 1903 of the front designed by Carlo Francesco Dotti. Rubbiani defended with all his might this important medieval building and stressed the need to save it. |
